WHAT IS RIESLING?
Riesling is a white grape which originated in the Rhine region of Germany. It’s a wine that is versatile (dry to sweet) with lovely aromatics. It’s also one of the most versatile with food parings because of its high acidity, and they pair magnificently with spicy foods such as Mexican and Chinese food.
WHAT DOES IT TASTE LIKE?
In cool climates like Austria and Germany, Rieslings have high acidity with stone fruit notes. In warmer climates like Australia, acid levels are a little lower, and offer more citrus lime notes. When Riesling ages, it has smoky, honey notes, which are delicious.
In addition to the aromas and flavors, there are also sweetness levels. Many bottles have a Riesling Taste Profile on the back of the bottle to tell you what style you’re purchasing, which can vary from dry, medium dry, medium sweet, to sweet.

WHERE DOES IT GROW?
Germany leads in production, with the USA, and Australia coming in second and third. France, Ukraine and Austria are also known for growing the grape.
