Paris’s Montmartre neighborhood is gearing up for its 93rd annual grape harvest festival, running October 7–11, 2026. It’s actually one of the biggest events the city puts on, pulling in around 1.5 million visitors  and this year’s theme centers on music, with the whole 18th arrondissement turning into one giant open-air stage.

For five straight days, the streets, squares, and famous landmarks of the neighborhood fill up with concerts, choirs, dance performances, musical parades, and plenty of community-driven events. The idea is that every corner of the arrondissement gets its own moment — different neighborhoods, different venues, all contributing their own “notes” to the celebration. The lineup mixes well-known performers with up-and-coming artists and everyday local talent, so it feels less like a polished production and more like a genuine neighborhood party that everyone’s invited to.

A few signature traditions return every year and remain the heart of the festival:

  • The Harvest Proclamation (Ban des Vendanges) – the ceremonial kickoff to the whole event
  • The Grand Parade – a lively procession through the streets
  • The Taste Trail – a food-and-wine tasting route near Sacré-Cœur, where local producers, winemakers, and artisans share their goods and stories. It’s less about just eating and drinking, and more about meeting the people behind the food and hearing how it’s made.
  • A playful mock-wedding ceremony – a lighthearted, non-official “marriage” tradition unique to the festival
  • A night run through the neighborhood
  • The Closing Ball – the big finale to send the festival off

Beyond the events themselves, the festival leans hard into community values — solidarity, inclusion, and passing down local knowledge and traditions. Residents, families, kids, small businesses, and community groups all play a real role in making it happen, not just spectators but active participants. There’s also a sustainability angle this year, with efforts around reducing waste, encouraging eco-friendly ways to get around, and supporting local, short-supply-chain food producers.

Unfortunately, we won’t be able to make the trip to Paris for this one this year. But if you’re nearby or can swing a visit, it sounds like a wonderful few days — great music, great food, and a real sense of neighborhood pride and community. Hope some of you get to experience it and celebrate on our behalf!
