Marc and I were really looking forward to the Saturday Night (SNL) Live season premier, so we pulled together a Charcuterie plater and popped open a bottle of Merlot. Which reminds me, its #MerlotMe month, a time to celebrate, taste and share great Merlot with your friends and family during the month of October. If you have a favorite, pop open a bottle and share it on your social media channels!
Anyway, there are tons of meats, cheese and fruits that go with Merlot, including Blue cheese, Cheddar, and Gorgonzola. Marc is a fan of salami, so we also had an array of soppressata, calabrese, prosciutto, and Tartufo salami and a handful of berries and fruit.
We paired it with L’Ecole’s 2017 Merlot from Columbia Valley, Washington. It was luscious and rich, with layers of black cherry, plum and dark fruits that finishes strong with black pepper and tobacco. It’s a great versatile Merlot that paired well with our Charcuterie…
Highly recommended >> 2017 L’Ecole Merlot, Columbia Valley, Washington $36
