Another Great South Africa Chenin Blanc:  Bellingham Bernard Series

Wine Review: 2004 Bellingham Bernard Series Old Vine Chenin Blanc, Coastal Region, South Africa

Here in the United States Chenin Blanc does not make it onto the dinner table as often as it should. Wish I knew why that is? It can’t be they are too expensive or are not high enough in quality because they are not expensive and there are plenty of good quality Chenin blancs’ out there.

Spicy grilled peach tossed with fresh cut tropical fruit aromas make this wine more alluring than most Chenin Blanc. It keeps on getting better because wait, there’s more!  Rich and creamy full flavors not usually obtained with this varietal present themselves in an approachable package. The wine cries out for full flavored seafood dishes and wild fowl like pheasant, goose or duck presented in highly seasoned renditions of culinary excellence.

Rating: Very Good (89) | $17 | 14.0 % ABV
