Wine Review: 2014 Seven Sisters Dawn Pinotage – Shiraz, Swartland, South Africa

Wow!  This wine was a pleasant surprise and I’m not easily enamored with most Pinotage/Shiraz wines.

This tasty blend was probably the best ratio of Shiraz (40%) to Pinotage (60%) for my finicky Pinotage sensitive palate I have ever tasted.

The Seven Sisters label is part of Heritage Link brands founded by humanitarian visionary Selena Cuffe.

The aromas are pleasant, redolent of sweet fruit and savory herbs. Soft in the mouth with red candy, dried citrus and smoked meat flavors; shows a hint of black pepper on the finish.

chicken and risotto

Broad culinary pairings are one of this wines’ strong points, including a well-made lamb or beef meatloaf, lasagna or any roasted poultry.
