Wine Review: 2012 Salton Cabernet Franc, Campanha, Brazil

Brazil makes wine? Indeed they do, and this Salton Cabernet Franc is a great effort coming from the Campanha region, Brazil’s most southern wine region located adjacent to the country’s border with Uruguay.

The Salton Cabernet Franc is fruit-driven and soft with pretty red fruits, spice and leather. The wine had a tinge of greenness to it but not to the point where it was offensive or overzealous—rather it played nicely in the background.

Grilled chicken and crimini mushroom risotto
Overall, this wine was pleasant and well-structured with a high quality to price ratio (QPR). Buy it drink it, love it. We paired it with grilled chicken and crimini mushroom risotto with asparagus—delicious!

Rating: Very Good (88) | $16 | 13.0 % ABV
