Wine Review: 2011 Gramercy Cellars L’idiot du Village Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley, Washington
It’s really hard to go bad with anything Sommelier turned winemaker Greg Harrington makes out there in Walla Walla. The Gramercy Cellars L’idiot is a blend of 90% Mourvedre, 5% Cinsault and 5% Syrah is a prodigious example of the Columbia Valley’s versatility when it comes to the variety of varietals they can produce with proficient results.
These grapes, in this formula, fermented by an expert winemaker are reminiscent of a smoky, brambly, bad ass Chateauneuf du Pape or Gigondas from the southern Rhone. Quality like this is seldom offered at such a value.
Rating: Excellent (90) | $45 | 13.5 % ABV
