Wine Review: 2010 Campo Viejo Tempranillo Reserva Rioja Artist Series

The wines from Bodegas Campo Viejo have been a go to staple for quality and value in my home for decades.
Relatively new for a Rioja winery, their first vintage was made in 1959 and this statement from current winemaker Elena Adell, “Whether you’re sharing a quiet glass with a friend or celebrating at a big event, our aim is to create Rioja wines that add a special touch to any occasion” sums up why they are one of my go to Tempranillo wines.

This 2010 Artist Series continues the tradition with label art produced by renowned urban artists Okuda and Remed. The wine emits aromas of berries, oak and clove. Brambly briar and sour cherry meld with plum and meat flavors to complete the package.

The wine has a rustic old style finish reminiscent of some of the Spanish wines I consumed when I started my personal wine journey. Serve with tapas, tacos, and of course, any kind of ham.
