Wine Review: 2012 Hawks View Cellars Red Blend, Washington
The Hawks View Cellars Red Blend has a very respectable pedigree, which should be quite a marketing bonanza.
The wine is a Bordeaux style blend from the Horse Heaven Hills AVA and Double Canyon Vineyards supplied the fruit. The blend is 43% Malbec, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Petit Verdot and 11% Merlot. Oddly enough none of that information is reflected on the label. The wine is then aged for 21 months in French Oak. There are faint aromas of red currants and blackberries at the beginning followed by flavors of stewed fruit with some chocolate coffee notes. Food pairing will be at its best with bold comfort foods.
Rating: Good | $45 | 14.3% ABV
