Wine Review: 2012 Elena Walch Beyond the Clouds Chardonnay, Alto Adige, Italy
Primarily consisting of Chardonnay from the Castel Ringberg Vineyard, the Elena Walch Beyond the Clouds Chardonnay is unique and exotic; a zippy, lively white wine that has a great honeysuckle, peach and lemon core that finishes strong. It is very complex, with a crescendo of interesting flavors that play on your tongue, leading to hints of clove on the finish.
Let this Elena Walch open and don’t drink it too cold. This should drink nicely for another 5-6 years, but the flavors as so special now, so why wait? Pair it with your favorite shellfish, or chicken dish.
