Wine Review: 2010 Raffaldini Vineyards Swan Creek Pinot Grigio, North Carolina
This Pinot Grigio was probably one of the biggest wine surprises to come my way this year. The Raffaldini Vineyards Swan Creek Pinot Grigio is full bodied for a Pinot Grigio with balanced acidity and a substantial mouth-feel that is very pleasant. The floral bouquet blends the flowery aromas with the minerality of wet granite.
Pleasingly pleasurable, the flavor of apple pear and citrus stretch out extensively in the mid-palate showcasing what this wine is all about. The finish delivers enough acidity to cleanse the palate of cuisine that normally might be beyond the capability of lighter Pinot Grigio wines. With two years in the bottle this wine is holding well and will be for a couple more years.
Rating: Very Good (88) | $15 | 12.4% ABV
