Wine Review: 2012 Handley Pinot Blanc Mendocino County California

I have tasted and enjoyed Milla Handley’s wine for over two decades, and I have to say she is my favorite winemaker from the Anderson Valley.  She has the ability to transform grapes into something special in the bottle, and she continues to produce stellar wine year after year. Her 2012s are really showcasing the awesomeness she brings to the table.

The fruit for this blend came from three different appellations in Mendocino County. Pinot blanc makes up the majority, but some Anderson Valley Riesling and Redwood Valley Muscat Canelli made it into the blend as well, each fermented separately in stainless steel tanks.

The 2012 Handley Pinot blanc is wonderful, and aromatic as brioche, honey and lime jump from the glass. It is medium-bodied with lively acidity and good tropical flavors that make you come back for more, sip after sip. And you can’t get more food friendly when it comes to this Pinot blanc, so go crazy with anything from spicy food to pastas, chicken and fish.  229 case production.
