Wine review: 2012 Anam Cara Chardonnay Reserve, Chehalem Mountains Willamette Valley
As a fan of Anam Cara wines, I look forward to tasting their lineup every year. This is their first Reserve Chardonnay, created from two acres of Dijon clone vines on the estate. The 2012 Anam Cara Chardonnay Reserve has pretty aromas of pear and orange; on first sip, it is clean and crisp with flavors of lemon, and pear. What makes it so interesting is its unique mid-palette, which plays a soft crescendo of light oak that leads to a medium-long finish of soft honeycomb and apricot flavors. Accompany this with lobster ravioli or tuna steaks for a perfect food match.
Rating: Excellent (90) | $32 | 12.5% ABV
