Wine Review: 2011 Thomas Fogarty Skyline Riesling, Central Coast, California

This Riesling is from the Scheid Viento Vineyard located on the west side of Salinas Valley. The region has a micro-climate with moderate conditions and cool afternoons which are typically visited by howling winds. Evenings bring coastal fog which often linger until mid-morning.

The mission of Scheid is to grow the highest quality grapes and to craft the best wines possible. This is evident with the 2011 Thomas Fogarty Skyline Riesling, which was whole-cluster pressed and fermented in stainless steel.

This is a crisp, light bodied Riesling with good honeysuckle, grapefruit and apple flavors with a medium-long, mouthwatering finish. Drink now through 2015. 665 case production.
