Frapin “Extra” Grand Champagne Cognac
Frapin is a family owned business that has made estate-produced and bottled cognac with roots tied to Charentes in southwest France that date back to 1270. Unlike many other cognac producers, they own the land and grapes—741 acres in the Cognac area of Charentes, with 500 acres of Premier Cru de Cognac vineyards planted with superior Ugni-Blanc grapes (known in Italy as Trebbiano), in the Grande Champagne region.
This “Extra” Grand Champagne Cognac carries a sweet note in the nose with vanilla and orange peel. It is very complex, smooth in texture with spicy, warm cinnamon notes, candied fruit and almonds; simply compelling and lovely.
Rating: Excellent (96) | $699 | 80 PROOF, 40% ABV
