Wine Review: 2011 Craggy Range Chardonnay, Kidnappers Vineyard, Hawkes Bay

Craggy Range Chardonnay: Grown in a vineyard that sets almost right on the ocean at Cape Kidnappers, the Craggy Range Chardonnay fruit experiences a season of warm summers tempered by a cooling sea breeze. This area got its name from a time when Captain Cook first discovered these islands down under and while his ship was moored in this bay his cabin boy was kidnapped by the locals and later returned thus the name Kidnappers Bay. The cool yet sunny environment produces a New World expression of Chardonnay represents a hands-off style of winemaking technique leaving the finished product a clean example of the varietal.

Rating: Very Good (89) | $22 | 13.0% ABV
