2010 Mollydooker Gigglepot Cabernet Sauvignon, McLaren Vale

This style of Mollydooker Gigglepot Cabernet Sauvignon will please many but I must first qualify that the many I speak of will not be the average Cabernet Sauvignon consumer. There are many dry red wines that have a lot of fruit flavor and may even make you think you are tasting a sweet wine, now multiply that by ten and you have Gigglepot.

I will venture to say it is quite a bit different from what most wine drinkers are looking for when they choose a Cabernet Sauvignon and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. If you are a sommelier or a retail wine steward and you have customers who say they would like to try a red wine that is not too harsh this wine would be perfect for that customer.

The Marquis family who owns Mollydooker winery prides themselves on the high fruit weight of their wines and this one lives up to those standards This wine works well as a sipping wine without food and will pair well with lamb dishes, softened brie and chocolate.

Rating: Very Good (88) | $50 | 15.5% ABV
