2017 Dry Creek Vineyard The Mariner, Sonoma County, California ($47)
The mariner is a wonderful Bordeaux red blend with layers of black cherry, black currant and spice. The finish is long with an interesting earthy component that plays second fiddle to the toasty notes. This is a very versatile red that would pair with anything such as grilled or sautéed meats, chicken, and cheese courses.
2019 Dry Creek Vineyard Chenin Blanc, Clarksburg, Yolo County, California ($16)
Year after year, Marc and I give this wine two thumbs up for its quality to price ratio. It’s a classic Loire valley style wine that pairs deliciously with so many foods. The aromas are lively with passion fruit and green apple, and the flavors are layered with melon, lime, and orange blossom, followed by lemon curd and honeydew. The finish is clean and delicious. You can’t go wrong with this wine! We always keep a case in the cellar.
