Wine Review: Elizabeth Chambers Pinot Noir Willamette Valley, Oregon
Elizabeth Chambers is a third generation Oregonian who certainly has the experience and knowledge to bring to market, the style of wines most consumers want when they buy Willamette Valley Pinot noir.
Winemaker Michael Stevenson has delivered in this 2011 Winemakers Cuvee Pinot noir just that, a consumer friendly wine that will appeal to those who enjoy an elegant, light-bodied red. Sourced from fruit grown at the Freedom Hill Vineyard and the Lazy River Vineyard the wine reflects the sites individual qualities of terroir and maturity.
The wine has a classic Willamette Valley Pinot noir flavor profile with tart cherry, earth and fresh baked pastry as the core components. Light on its feet, the fine-grained tannins, work well with the oak aging regimen producing a style of wine that is easy to drink young. Tasting this wine over the course of a few hours, it evolved considerably. With that in mind, the aging potential should allow this wine to develop further over the next ten years. Culinary applications lean towards lighter fare like roasted fowl and grilled salmon.
Rating: Excellent (90) | $32 | 13.3% ABV
