Fifteen wineries make up the Rattlesnake Hills AVA located in Yakima Valley in Washington State. The rich soils and warm climate produces some remarkable wines that are world-class. Bonair, which has quietly produced food friendly wines for over 26 years, hit the mark on this Cabernet Franc.
This is a textbook example, which is a blend of Cabernet Franc (78%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (22%) and aged two years in oak. The aromas of violet and flavors of black licorice, red and black fruit are silky and soft. Medium-bodied, it has great layers of spiciness yet remains pretty in style.
As mentioned before, it is very food friendly with a myriad of culinary applications including Mexican fare, hearty stews like coq au vin, rabbit terrine, stewed meats or vegetarian dishes that use a lot of rosemary and sage. Drink up as the price point is right and I am pretty sure you will like it.
